Negative Language to Replace
Tips on how to be more mindful of your language
Instead of labeling foods as good or bad, think of why some foods can help you grow strong and other foods are just fun “sometimes” foods
Become more aware of how pervasive negative words can be towards yourself and others
Avoid moral connotations when describing foods by using terms such as good or bad.
Intentionally decide to commit to using less problematic language. For instance, decrease rumination over your body or purposefully using positive words when describing food or body
Make compliments that don’t revolve around peoples’ looks or body, such as complimenting on someone’s personality or energy they bring to a room
Refrain from bringing discussions of food and body into conversations and comments
Refrain from using the negative words listed above and replace them with my positive word suggestions
Remember that everyone is on a different path with their body and with their relationship with food
